• Powdered acorn can be dusted into wax that seals spells jars, and seems to be especially effecting with protection and safety jars.
• Shattered bits of shell can be burnt along with cleansing incense to amplify the cleansing of your space.
• Carrying acorns in your bag or on your person can increase the intensity of your presence

Medicinal Uses:
Acorn: Used for diarrhea, digestive complaints, mouth ailments (must be leached and processed).
Bark: Used for astringent properties (mouthwash, wounds, diarrhea, hemorrhoids).

Other Notes:
◦ Acorns should always be leached (soaked and rinsed repeatedly in water) before consumption to remove bitter tannins that can irritate digestion.
◦ Oak bark and acorns are astringent and drying. Excess consumption can irritate the digestive system.

Warnings:
Toxicity: Raw or improperly prepared acorns are toxic to humans and should not be eaten raw! They contain high tannin levels, which can cause digestive upset and, in animals (especially cattle and sheep), kidney failure and other severe symptoms if consumed in large amounts.
Pregnancy: Avoid acorn or oak medicinal preparations during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Allergies: As with any herbal, possible allergies exist.

Medicinal Uses: Traditionally used as a nutritive tonic, diuretic, cholesterol- and blood sugar-lowering agent, menopause symptom relief, liver and digestive support, and support for urinary and kidney health. Contains vitamins A, C, E, and K, plus minerals like potassium, calcium, iron. High in phytoestrogens.

Preparation Notes: Seeds and sprouts are commonly eaten; leaves dried for tea or powdered for supplements.

Warnings:
Pregnancy/Breastfeeding: Not usually recommended due to phytoestrogen content; may affect hormone-sensitive conditions.
Autoimmunity: Alfalfa seeds contain canavanine, which can provoke relapse in people with lupus or similar diseases.
Foodborne Illness: Sprouts have risk of contamination (E. coli, Salmonella) if not handled properly.
Interactions: May interact with anticoagulant medications due to high vitamin K content.
Photosensitivity & GI Effects: Can cause light sensitivity, digestive upset, or loose stools.
Autotoxicity: Alfalfa produces natural compounds in soil that can inhibit new alfalfa growth in the same area.

Toxic?

No, if used as food in normal amounts.
Yes, if large amounts of raw seeds are eaten by those with lupus or similar autoimmune conditions; or if sprouts are contaminated with bacteria.

Medicinal Notes: Apples are nutritious, rich in potassium, iron, vitamins A and E (especially in the peel), and fiber. Used to support digestion, detox, and cardiovascular health. Unripe apples for diarrhea; apples whole for laxative; apple wine a traditional tonic. Baked apples can be applied as a poultice to throats/skin inflammations.

Magical Notes: Eating apples in ritual aligns one with the cycles of life and death—apples represent immortality, food of the gods, and are powerful for contacting the Otherworld (especially at Samhain). Apple seeds, when used, must be respected for toxicity. Apple wood makes powerful, gentle magical tools.

Warnings:
Apple seeds contain amygdalin (a cyanide compound); while accidental ingestion of a few seeds is not dangerous for most people, purposely consuming many seeds is not safe.
◦ Apples themselves are not toxic, but avoid seeds in large amounts.

Cedar’s use is sacred in many indigenous and spiritual traditions; always harvest respectfully and in moderation.

Eastern Red Cedar (Juniperus virginiana) and Western Red Cedar (Thuja plicata) are not true cedars but are commonly used interchangeably in magic.

Cedar essential oil: Do not ingest; external use only. Contains thujone, which can cause convulsions or toxicity if used internally or in excess.

All parts (especially oil) are toxic if ingested in large quantities or used improperly. Cedar oil can be dangerous to pets and children.

Smoke: Use in a ventilated space during rituals or cleansing.

• Historically used for respiratory, skin, and immune support, but misuse may cause irritation or allergic reactions
